Sports bring their indie pop to Cologne, weaving between neo-soul, R&B, and soft rock: On November 1, 2026, the band from Oklahoma will play at Yard Club. Centering on singer-songwriter Cale Chronister and multi-instrumentalist Christian Theriot, their sound rests on warm keys, rounded basslines, and the lo-fi vibe that shaped their early EPs Naked All the Time and People Can't Stop Chillin.
Since moving to Los Angeles, the songwriting sounds clearer and more polished, with subtle funk textures, synth ballads, and minimalist grooves that nod to the 70s and 80s without sounding retro. Get A Good Look Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 have pushed this direction further: vocal-focused, detail-rich, and more restrained than flashy. Live, Sports translates this into a compact band set, where songs can be easily rearranged and indie pop, bedroom pop, and R&B blend together with ease.
