Info
After a 2025 tour that drew more than 100,000 spectators, John Williams & Hans Zimmer's film music in a symphonic concert returns to the Grand Rex in February and March 2027. On the programme: Interstellar, Jurassic Park, The Dark Knight, Harry Potter, Inception, Star Wars, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Rediscover these film scores performed live by more than 70 musicians on stage. Under the baton of conductor Nicolas Simon, the Yellow Socks Orchestra, a French symphonic orchestra specializing in film music, will perform live music by these two composers. John Williams, master of orchestration, shaped film music as early as the 1970s. As the perennial composer for Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, he scored films such as E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Jaws, Indiana Jones. His melodic themes, recognizable from the first notes, helped restore the symphony orchestra at the center of film music. Awarded five Oscars and 54 nominations, Williams remains a major figure whose work spans generations. Hans Zimmer, for his part, embodies a modernity marked by the fusion of orchestration and electronic sounds. A German-born, naturalized American composer, he renewed the codes of film music. His collaborations with Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar) and Ridley Scott (Gladiator) have left a mark on contemporary cinema. Awarded two Oscars, Zimmer creates immersive atmospheres that transform each scene. For almost two hours, the concert offers a journey into the heart of these musical canvases that have shaped cinema history, made possible by a high-fidelity d&b Soundscape audio system, delivering clarity and spatialization. A rendezvous for cinema and film music enthusiasts. This show highlights the music of Hans Zimmer and John Williams. The two composers will not be present on stage. Their works will be performed live by the Yellow Socks Orchestra under the direction of conductor Nicolas Simon. Nicolas Simon is the musical director of the Yellow Socks Orchestra, chief conductor of the Caen Orchestra since September 2020, founder, artistic and musical director of La Symphonie de Poche and Philharmonicoeur, associate conductor of the Orchestra Les Siècles, and head of the Démos project. The Yellow Socks Orchestra is a French symphonic orchestra specializing in film music. Created in 2015 by the production company uGo&Play and led musically by Nicolas Simon, it participates in numerous ciné-concerts in France: Jurassic Park, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, La La Land, Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, and the Harry Potter film saga. Under the direction of Joe Hisaishi, the Yellow Socks Orchestra recently performed, with 250 musicians on stage, music from the Hayao Miyazaki universe (Studio Ghibli).
