Dexter and The Moonrocks bring their “Friends That I Don't Like - Canadian Tour” to MTELUS in Montréal on February 20, 2027. The Texas quartet has built its identity around what they call “western space grunge”: big, saturated guitars, straight-to-the-point melodies, and songwriting that pulls from rural America as much as from the 1990s and 2000s rock playbook. Since their early EPs and the Western Space Grunge release, they’ve tightened the formula into punchy choruses, grunge tension and country-leaning turns, with recent tracks like “Freakin’ Out” and “12 Steps” showing a band that keeps things rough-edged but melodic.
Opening the night, Los Angeles band Return to Dust sits at the crossroads of grunge, hard rock and alternative metal. Driven by thick riffs and heavy rhythms, they channel the weight of 90s American rock without slipping into nostalgia. After the Black Road EP, their self-titled debut and the Speak Like the Dead EP pushed a darker, direct sound made for loud rooms and no-frills hooks.
