The music of The Legendary Pink Dots has incorporated elements of neo-psychedelia, ambient, electronic music, magnetic-tape music, psychedelic folk, synthpop, post-punk, progressive jazz, noise, pop, gothic rock, and alternative rock, sometimes all at once.
Often compared to an industrial version of Pink Floyd from the Syd Barrett era, the band has actually drawn its major influences in its early days from David Bowie in his early days, The Residents, Can, Faust, and composers of musique concrète such as Pierre Henry. In fact, it is often the long, feverish dreamlike sonic expeditions that punctuate the band's discography that have earned widespread praise.

The band currently comprises Edward Ka-Spel (vocals, keyboards, composition), Erik Drost (guitars), Randall Frazier (keyboards, electronics) and Joep Hendrikx (live electronics). Operating on the fringe of the mainstream, they have more than forty studio albums to their credit and have built a devoted worldwide following, while touring extensively to promote their releases, including their concert at Le Bal Chavaux on February 1, 2027 at 6:30 PM.
