Buntspecht like to live in the in-between: euphoria rubbing up against melancholy, lightness slipping into darker romantic tones, always with that sense of identity kept deliberately fluid. The Vienna-based sextet pulls from a wide palette—indie pop, folk, bossa nova, gypsy jazz, even hints of Viennese song—held together by rich, often acoustic writing where voices, strings, brass and woodwinds keep trading the lead.
