At the beginning of their career, seventeen years ago, Holy Wave ventured into a peaceful psychedelic universe, abandoning long improvisations and demonstrations of guitar virtuosity in favor of a dreamy, pop-oriented approach.
Over the years, the sound of their early days, somewhere between Sgt. Pepper's and The Velvet Underground, gave way to more sophisticated melodies and increasingly hallucinatory instrumentation, evolving their music from sun-drenched nostalgia to a dimension of vivid colors where sounds of the past, present, and future blend together naturally.
Childhood friends, Ryan Fuson, Joey Cook, Kyle Hager, and Julian Ruiz grew up in El Paso, where they cut their teeth on the local DIY scene. In search of new musical experiences and broader horizons, they regularly hit the roads of the American Southwest to attend shows by touring bands who often skipped the West Texas. This love of travel eventually led them to settle in Austin, while fueling their adventurous writing and their passion for the scene.
Holy Wave will release its sixth album, entitled i’m DADA, on July 10, 2026, on Suicide Squeeze Records, and will perform live at Petit Bain on September 14, 2026 at 5:30 PM.
