Behind his fringed mask, the South African-born, Canada-based singer twists classic Nashville codes into something more cinematic: reverb-soaked guitars, slow-burn ballads, and a deep crooner voice that can turn tenderness into tension in a single line. Since Pony (2019), he’s been building a modern Americana that flirts with goth moods and shoegaze textures, then opening it up on Bronco (2022) with bigger arrangements and stories of desire, exile, and outsiders.
