On October 10, 2026, in Cologne's Garage Club, two figures who helped shape early electro-bass on the US West Coast will meet: The Egyptian Lover and Arabian Prince. The Egyptian Lover, alias Greg Broussard from Los Angeles, has stood since the early 1980s for pounding 808 drums, funky synth lines, and this minimal electro-rap drive that comes straight from the club culture of Uncle Jamm’s Army. Tracks from the On the Nile era, later One Track Mind and Filthy, have defined his sound: dry, fast, precise, and always built around movement in space.
Arabian Prince complements the scene as another pioneer of the first electro and hip-hop wave—with a focus on machine grooves, bass pressure, and a live approach that doesn’t celebrate the classics museum-style, but pushes them forward. Expect a set that uses the 808 not as a retro gimmick, but as the heartbeat: raw, direct, and danceable.
