Saint Abdullah & Eomac ( live)
Saint Abdullah & Eomac is a long-distance musical collaboration between Iranian-Canadian brothers Mohammad and Mehdi (based in New York) and Ian McDonnell (Eomac, based in Ireland). Initiated in 2019, this project merges the brothers' use of analogue gear with Eomac's digital production, blending raw sampling, geopolitics, and sound synthesis. Their main goal is to explore the revolutionary possibilities of sound and foster cultural dialogue through sonic storytelling.
This artistic alliance has resulted in multiple record releases on labels such as Nicolas Jaar's Other People, Planet Mu, and Drowned by Locals. In addition to their studio productions, the collective has taken their proposal into the live arena, performing at festivals like Nuits Sonores and Tehran Contemporary Sounds. Furthermore, they have achieved critical acclaim for their collaborative audiovisual piece 'A Forbidden Distance', presented at prestigious events including Berlin Atonal and Unsound.
Dj Marcelle (3-hour set)
Surprise, adventure, entertainment, and education. These four key words perfectly capture the essence of Dutch producer and DJ Marcelle / Another Nice Mess. Demonstrating masterful skill by operating three turntables simultaneously both in the studio and live on stage, Marcelle blurs the line between DJ and musician, fusing disparate styles so seamlessly that they feel inherently connected. Her distinctive style completely bypasses traditional DJ clichés, effortlessly blending environmental sounds and avant-garde noise with free jazz, leftfield techno, weird hip-hop, cutting-edge electronic rhythms, new African dance music, and dubstep.
Deeply inspired by avant-garde art movements like Dada and Fluxus, the real-life absurdism of Monty Python, and the wild sonic experiments of dub and post-punk, Marcelle relies on her massive collection of over 20,000 vinyl records to deliver sets backed by profound historical knowledge of underground music. Appointed as a "lifetime resident DJ" by Uganda's legendary Nyege Nyege Festival and celebrated online as the "best post-Peel DJ", her unclassifiable performances are best described in her own words as "avant-garde ethno bass". A true pioneer and an ear-opening force ready to challenge expectations and shatter rules on the dancefloor.
