NYC & LA-based Iranian songwriter, producer, and vocalist Kris Esfandiari leads King Woman as a project built around her voice: restrained, liturgical, then suddenly raw. Founded in 2009 and later joined by drummer Joseph Raygoza, King Woman sits at the crossroads of doom, post-metal and shoegaze, where slow tempos and thick guitars leave plenty of space for tension and silence.
On Friday, October 16, 2026 at Oslo Hackney in London, King Woman brings the heavy, theatrical world of Celestial Blues (Relapse Records, 2021) to the stage. Written from personal memories and shaped by biblical imagery, the album moves like a dark narrative: falls from grace, wounds, rebirth, and that uneasy pull between devotion and revolt. Tracks like “Morning Star” and “Coil” lean into gospel-inflected intensity, while “Psychic Wound” pushes the emotional edge even further.
With Esfandiari at the center and the band’s crushing, spacious sound around her, King Woman turns pain, faith and distortion into something that feels physical—slow-burning, immersive, and hard to shake.
