Info
After a 2025 tour, the music of John Williams and Hans Zimmer in a symphonic concert returns to the Grand Rex in Paris in February and March 2027. The program includes Interstellar, Jurassic Park, The Dark Knight, Harry Potter, Inception, Star Wars, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Rediscover the film scores performed by more than 70 musicians on stage.
Under the baton of conductor Nicolas Simon, the Yellow Socks Orchestra, a French symphonic orchestra specialized in film music, will perform these two composers' scores live. John Williams has shaped film music since the 1970s. The longtime composer for Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, he wrote the scores for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jaws, and Indiana Jones. His melodic themes, instantly recognizable from the opening notes, have placed the symphonic orchestra at the heart of film music. Awarded five Oscars and 54 nominations, Williams remains a benchmark whose work spans generations.
Hans Zimmer, for his part, embodies a modern approach. A German-born, naturalized American composer, he blends orchestration with electronic textures. His collaborations with Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar) and Ridley Scott (Gladiator) have left their mark on contemporary cinema. With two Oscars to his name, Zimmer creates immersive atmospheres that transform every scene.
For almost two hours, the concert invites you to dive back into the heart of these scores that accompanied numerous films. The program highlights the music of Hans Zimmer and John Williams, and neither composer will be on stage. Their works will be performed live by the Yellow Socks Orchestra under the direction of conductor Nicolas Simon.
Nicolas Simon, musical director of the Yellow Socks Orchestra, has been principal conductor of the Caen Orchestra since September 2020, founder and artistic and musical director of La Symphonie de Poche and Philharmonicoeur, associate conductor of the Orchestre Les Siècles, and head of the Démos project.
The Yellow Socks Orchestra is a French symphonic orchestra specializing in film music. It was created in 2015 by the production company uGo&Play and placed under the musical direction of Nicolas Simon. The Yellow Socks Orchestra, literally the orchestra of yellow socks, is a playful nod to a convention still in force in some orchestras: musicians must always wear black socks under penalty of a salary deduction. Thus, the orchestra has taken the opposite stance and given musicians yellow socks. The Yellow Socks Orchestra participates in numerous film concerts in France: Jurassic Park, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, La La Land, Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, and the Harry Potter film saga. Under the direction of Joe Hisaishi, the Yellow Socks Orchestra recently performed, with 250 musicians on stage, music from the world of Hayao Miyazaki (Studio Ghibli). uGo&Play and the Yellow Socks Orchestra support the Philharmonicoeur project.
