Info
Born in Brixton in the mid-1990s, Alabama 3 (also known as A3) continues to derail genres with its homegrown recipe: a blend of country and blues injected with acid house, electronics, and trip-hop. Behind the project, Rob Spragg and Jake Black have shaped a sound where club rhythms rub shoulders with harmonica, blues guitars, and gospel flourishes, like a distinctly British vision of the American South, twisted just enough.
They first came to attention with Exile on Coldharbour Lane, and the group has stretched this aesthetic across a discography that runs from La Peste to Step 13, without losing its taste for wide-ranging styles. Many also know them for Woke Up This Morning, which has become inseparable from the Sopranos' opening theme. On December 9, 2026 at Whelan's, Alabama 3 is bringing this hybrid cocktail back to the stage, between a rugged groove and electronic pulses.
