On October 16, 2026, in Nice, Avishai Cohen returns to the stage with his own distinctive way of pushing the boundaries of jazz without overdoing it. A bassist, composer and sometimes singer, he has spent years building a language in which improvisation remains at the center, yet where colors from the Middle East, Mediterranean rhythms, and popular melodies slip in naturally.
In concert, everything starts from the double bass: a pulse that drives, then a line that sings, and suddenly a pivot around which the band reorganizes. His compositions play on tensions and breaths, alternating grooves that grab you, more suspended passages and bursts of virtuosity always at the service of the collective. One finds this blend of harmonic precision and direct warmth—music that is demanding yet open, which leaves room for silences as much as for momentum.
