If you follow the renewal of British jazz closely, Ezra Collective is among the bands that matter. Hailing from London's scene and the Tomorrow’s Warriors community, the quintet (Femi Koleoso, TJ Koleoso, Joe Armon-Jones, Ife Ogunjobi and James Mollison) treats jazz as a living art form, infused with Afrobeat, hip-hop, soul, dub and Caribbean rhythms. On record, from You Can’t Steal My Joy to Where I’m Meant to Be (Mercury Prize 2023), and Dance, No One’s Watching, their sound advances through tight grooves, nerve-filled brass lines and keyboards that open up space, balancing instrumental passages and more vocally oriented formats. On 8 March 2027, at the O2 Academy Glasgow, Ezra Collective will bring this collective energy to the stage, where their music truly comes alive: a group dynamic, rising tension and a sense of rhythm that keeps the dancing foot moving, even when the writing becomes more refined.
