Since the early 90s, Atlanta crew Arrested Development has been carving out its own lane in hip-hop, mixing soul, funk and Afrocentric rhythms with lyrics that stay plugged into social and spiritual questions. Built around Speech and shaped over the years by a shifting line-up, their sound has always pushed back against the obvious, pairing warm grooves with messages about community, identity and empowerment.
Their breakthrough came with 3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life Of..., the 1992 album that put “Tennessee” on the map and helped define alternative rap for a new audience. The group went on to rack up major recognition across the decade, before returning in the 2000s with a more independent path and a steady run of releases, keeping the focus on live energy and tight musicianship.
Arrested Development bring that legacy to Band on the Wall in Manchester on 4 September 2026, for a set that connects the classics with the broader arc of a band still in motion.
