Pokey LaFarge will be performing on March 11, 2027, at the Bristol Beacon in Bristol. Born Andrew Heissler in Illinois, he has carved out a distinctive place in American roots music, somewhere between folk, early 1920s–1930s jazz, country blues, and Western swing. His songwriting favors stories that move forward, characters in motion, songs that hit the road without rushing. Discovered with Riverboat Soul and then Middle of Everywhere alongside the South City Three, he later broadened his range with the album Pokey LaFarge, before moving toward more electric textures and a more direct songwriting on Something in the Water and Manic Revelations. Since Rock Bottom Rhapsody, he has also injected pop, R&B and Latin colors, a trajectory continued with Rhumba Country (2024), where traditions rub shoulders with his own compositions. Special guests round out the lineup.
