Romare, also known as Archie Fairhurst, arrives at Village Underground in London on 22 October 2026. A producer and DJ based in the capital, he has been building since the early 2010s an electronic music made of collages, in the manner of Romare Bearden, from whom he borrows his name: fragments of jazz, blues and soul, African-American voices and percussion, all recast within slow-house structures, broken beat and downtempo. Noted for his EPs on Black Acre, including Meditations on Afrocentrism and Love Songs: Part One, he subsequently pursued this approach on Ninja Tune with Projections, then Love Songs: Part Two and Home, where the instruments take more space and the atmospheres become more melodic. On stage, Romare navigates between DJ sets and live electronics, playing with groove and textures, capable of shifting his tracks from club to concert without losing the thread.
