On 30 August 2026 at Chalk in Brighton, James K brings a live set that sits right on the fault line between experimental electronics and deconstructed pop songwriting. Producer, vocalist and all-around maker (sound, film, editing), she moves through shifting identities and perspectives, letting the voice lead: half-song, half-texture, always in motion.
Since her first releases in 2013, James K has built a practice that slips between ambient hush, downtempo drift, noise-scraped details and fractured club rhythm. The point isn’t a fixed persona but the way everything mutates in real time, whether she’s performing or DJing, in clubs, theaters, or more hybrid settings.
Her path has taken her through key festivals and venues like Dekmantel, Sustain Release, Mutek, iii Points and Nowadays, and she’s shared stages with artists such as James Ferraro, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, Yves Tumor, Morton Subotnick, Nick Leon and Priori. Expect a set where intimacy and tension coexist, and where sound design and songwriting keep blurring the line.
