As Kokoroko takes the stage, you immediately hear where the collective comes from: the crossroads of the London jazz scene and West African rhythms. With trumpeter Sheila Maurice-Grey at the center, the band is building a sound in which the brass players lay down the lines, propelled by Afrobeat, highlife, and plenty of room for improvisation. The group broke through with 'Abusey Junction' (on the Brownswood compilation We Out Here), a track that sharpens their flair for warm melodies and smooth grooves. Since the self-titled EP and the album Could We Be More, their palette has broadened, with more vocals, soul influences, and a more open, dreamy atmosphere, without losing that collective live energy. Expect a set that feels at once tight and loose: danceable, layered, and made to disappear into, with horns that keep pulling you toward a new angle. They will perform on 17 November 2026 at SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen.
