Under the moniker RIN, Renato Simunovic has established himself since the mid-2010s as one of the faces of the new wave of German-language rap. His lane is melodic rap at the border of trap, cloud rap, and dark pop, with sung choruses, confident autotune, and synthetic production that matches the era. Revealed online and then propelled to a wider audience in 2016 with 'Bianco' (featuring Yung Hurn), he has honed his writing across his albums: 'Eros' (2017) plays with contrasts between rapped verses and catchy pop hooks, 'Nimmerland' (2019) slows the tempo and leans toward introspection, while 'Kleinstadt' (2021) returns to childhood and life in a small town, a through-line for him.
