As It Is lands in Dublin on September 16, 2026 for a concert at The Academy, with the pop-punk and emo mix that has built the band's reputation. Born in Brighton around frontman Patty Walters and British musicians, As It Is first made a name for themselves thanks to a string of self-produced EPs, before stepping up a gear with Never Happy, Ever After (2015): melodic tracks, hooks that stick to the skin, and lyrics that speak of doubts, feelings, and everything that goes off the rails in relationships.
Over the course of their records, the band broadened its palette without losing its knack for hooks. okay. (2017) pushes the emo and alternative rock envelope, while The Great Depression (2018) takes a darker turn, with writing focused on mental health and touches of post-hardcore, more tense, sometimes almost theatrical. With I Went To Hell And Back (2022), As It Is continues to navigate between fast tracks, heavier passages and songs carried by a voice placed at the forefront. On stage, the energy remains upfront, between punk urgency and emo melancholy.
