Formed in 2012 near Reykjavik, Kaleo has built its identity somewhere between blues rock, folk and alternative rock, with a pronounced taste for contrasts. At the center of the action is Jökull “JJ Julius Son” Júlíusson's voice, capable of shifting from electric tension to moments that are more naked, almost intimate, without losing the thread. Surrounded by Davíð Antonsson, Daníel Kristjánsson and Rubin Pollock, the band quickly surpassed the Icelandic scene before settling in the United States and refining there this very rootsy sound, nourished by dry riffs, acoustic ballads and soul touches.
With A/B (2016) and then Surface Sounds (2021), Kaleo alternates concise tracks built on impact and more atmospheric ones where space counts as much as power. The ‘Way Down We Go Tour’ stops in Berlin, at the Uber Eats Music Hall, on March 29, 2027, for a concert that promises to be a constant back-and-forth between raw energy and attention to detail.
