Vienna Vienna is James Barre's solo project: tightly crafted pop songwriting and a real focus on the live scene, where performance matters as much as the songs. A multi-instrumentalist, he moves between early-2000s pop-punk, queer pop, soft rock and glam touches, with melodic and direct songs, often infused with a tension between front-of-stage energy and an openly acknowledged fragility.
Behind the catchiness of the choruses lies a very personal engine: an intimate relationship with music, first as a refuge from anxiety, then as a space to talk about identity, desire and self-acceptance. On stage, this dimension becomes a moment of sharing rather than a simple demonstration. To be discovered on 10 September 2026 at The Deaf Institute in Manchester.
