On March 6, 2027, The Dead South arrives at Aviva Studios in Manchester, bringing their signature recipe: nerve-wracking bluegrass that flirts with folk and Americana, played like a rock song. The Canadian quartet, formed in Regina (Saskatchewan), moves in tight formation around vocal harmonies, rapid rhythms, and that taut acoustic sound that moves heads as much as feet.
On stage, Nate Hilts, Scott Pringle, Colton Crawford and Danny Kenyon string together banjo, mandolin, guitars and cello, playing on contrasts: traditional roots on one side, almost-punk energy on the other, with a dark humor that runs through their lyrics. Propelled by the viral success of In Hell I’ll Be in Good Company, they have since solidified their universe, album after album, from Good Company to Chains & Stakes. Expect a set driven by the precision of the backing vocals, controlled accelerations, and that refrain that sticks in your head.
