Born from the meeting of two trajectories between Paris and Havana, Ibeyi brings together the twin sisters Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi Díaz around hybrid music, where soul and contemporary R&B intersect with downtempo, trip-hop, and precise electronic pop. At the heart of the duo is an Afro-Cuban heritage embraced: Yoruba rhythms, batá percussion, cajón, and a way of moving the voice like an instrument, sometimes soft, sometimes frontal. On stage, Lisa-Kaindé carries the songs on piano and voice, while Naomi builds the rhythmic texture, with a sense of groove that lets each track breathe. Their lyrics and melodies roam between English, French, Spanish and Yoruba, without forcing it, as an evident natural fit. From their early releases on XL Recordings to more expansive projects like Ash and Spell 31, Ibeyi moves forward while keeping the essentials: spare compositions, an organic tension, and electronic textures that never overwhelm. Ibeyi will perform on February 6, 2027 at Théâtre Beanfield in Montreal.
