Info
On March 2, 2027, Julia Jacklin performs at Mon Madrid in Madrid. An Australian singer-songwriter born in the Blue Mountains, she has developed her own musical language in which indie folk, indie rock, independent pop and a light touch of alt-country coexist without excess, with voice and guitar to the fore and measured arrangements. After starting out in the duo Salta and the trio Phantastic Ferniture, she launched her solo project with the EP Santafel (2014) and the album Don’t Let the Kids Win (2016). She followed those with Crushing (2019), featuring more direct narratives and a clear tension between melodic sweetness and edgier guitars, and Pre Pleasure (2022), recorded in Montreal, where her songwriting gains density without losing intimacy.
Onstage, Jacklin moves within an intimate register that avoids melodrama and focuses on the everyday, on relationships and the fragile places we all pass through. In Madrid she will present a set that crosses her three records, alternating intimacy and contained anguish, with dynamics that breathe and leave room for silence. A concert to follow closely for her lyrics and the sober rhythmic pulse that underpins each song.
