Bertrand Belin

Bertrand Belin returns to the stage at the Radiant - Bellevue in Caluire-et-Cuire on March 9, 2027. Carried by Watt, his new cycle of songs, he digs into a singular groove between hushed rock and chanson, with hints of jazz and blues. His deep voice, precise delivery and rhythmically controlled songwriting steer a set in which each piece seeks its own form while fitting into a coherent whole.

Composed and recorded with Thibault Frisoni, Watt inspires a supple sonic material made of contemporary pulses, strings and synths with a vintage grain. You hear a pop that enjoys getting lost in order to find itself again, melodic lines that rise without bombast, and arrangements that play the balance between clarity and friction. Tracks like La béatitude, Tel qu’en moi-même, Berger, Sur mon 31 and Seul trace an intimate trajectory, from restrained mantra to soulful outpourings, passing through a jazz vein that flirts with the elegance of standards.

Onstage, Belin favors nuance and contained tension, allowing simple images and common questions to emerge — that bond with oneself and others which runs through his records. Between new songs and signature numbers, this concert presents a songwriting that looks straight ahead and music that breathes, detailed without being demonstrative. An invitation to inhabit the present, together, for the length of an evening.
