Info
Down brings the Strap It Down Tour ’26 to History in Toronto on August 23, 2026. Formed in New Orleans in 1991, the band gathers players rooted in Pantera, Crowbar, Corrosion of Conformity and Eyehategod, a collective steered over time by Phil Anselmo, Jimmy Bower, Pepper Keenan and Kirk Windstein. Their sound leans sludge and southern metal with a stoner pull: thick, downtuned riffs, a heavy mid-tempo swing and a 70s hard-rock stamp. From the underground tape-trading years to NOLA, Down II and Down III, then the tighter EP cycle of Down IV, the group moves in bursts, but the live current stays the same: weight, groove and a slow-burn churn.
Helmet shares the bill. Born in New York in 1989 around guitarist-singer Page Hamilton, the quartet sits between alternative metal, post-hardcore and noise rock. Sharp, syncopated riffs, broken rhythms and abrasive guitars define a language Hamilton has kept lean from Strap It On and Meantime through Betty, Aftertaste and Left (2023). On stage, it’s taut, rhythm-forward and angular.
