Ibeyi

On 16 December 2026 Ibeyi will perform at the Bürgerhaus Stollwerck in Cologne. The twin duo Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi Díaz, born in Paris, who spent their early years in Havana and were raised in France, combine soul, contemporary R&B, downtempo, trip-hop and electronic pop textures with Yoruba and Afro‑Cuban rhythms. Their name means “twins” in Yoruba and reflects their origins and family history: their father is the Cuban percussionist Angá Díaz and their mother the singer Maya Dagnino. On stage Lisa‑Kaindé leads with vocals and piano, while Naomi answers with cajón and batá drums; they sing in English, French, Spanish and Yoruba.

Since their first EP Oya (2014) and their debut album Ibeyi (2015), their sound has been marked by pared‑down arrangements, traditional percussion and subtle electronics. With Ash (2017) they broadened their palette, collaborating with, among others, Kamasi Washington and Mala Rodríguez; in 2016 they appeared in Beyoncé’s Lemonade. They were followed by Recurring Dream (2021) and the more direct Spell 31 (2022), which features Pa Salieu and Jorja Smith. Live, earthy patterns and call‑and‑response meet intimate melodies, memories and rituals. In Cologne this is distilled into a concentrated set that links identity, loss and connectedness through voices, piano, drums and sparse beats.
