Dumbo Gets Mad

Dumbo Gets Mad brings its psychedelic pop to The Louisiana in Bristol on 9 November 2026. Launched in 2011 by Italian songwriter, producer and sound designer Luca Bergomi, the project blends lo‑fi pop, retro grooves and 70s‑tinged textures with a contemporary production touch. Born between Reggio Emilia and Los Angeles, Dumbo Gets Mad builds bright melodies, treated vocals and warm synths into songs that lean pop without losing their psych edge.

From the debut Elephants at the Door to Quantum Leap’s looser, stretched structures, the live set navigates hypnotic riffs and elastic rhythms with an easy flow. Thank You Neil explored a more soulful, cosmic colour, influenced by science talks and captured in a stripped, near‑live recording approach. Later, the single Makes You Fly and the album Things Are Random And Time Is Speeding Up tightened the writing while keeping the haze intact. On stage, shifting dynamics, multi‑layered arrangements and room for improvisation can turn a dreamy hook into a long‑form groove. The project has also widened its scope in the studio, notably contributing to Marracash’s Noi Loro Gli Altri.
