Lowertown

On 6 September 2026 at Exchange, 73 Old Market Street, Bristol BS2 0EJ, Lowertown bring their singular indie craft to the stage. The Atlanta duo — singer and songwriter Olivia Osby and multi‑instrumentalist Avsha Weinberg — started out with home‑recorded, lo‑fi bedroom pop before shifting toward a leaner, rougher indie rock. Signed to Dirty Hit, they framed that turn with the EP The Gaping Mouth (2021) and the album I Love to Lie (2022), records that play with contrast and tension.

Their songs move between distorted guitars and post‑punk‑tinged rhythms, then open into bare acoustic passages. Spoken fragments slide into hovering melodies, before the noise swells back in. Osby writes in close focus about anxiety, relationships and the churn of city life; Weinberg shapes the edges, setting grainy textures against clearer melodic lines. Live, Lowertown often expand into a fuller band, giving the material more bite without losing the raw, intimate feel that runs through the project.
