Liverpool band The Christians perform at Soul Mama Islington on Saturday 23 January 2027. Doors 6:30 pm, performance 8:00 pm.
Known for soulful, socially aware songs such as Forgotten Town, Ideal World, Born Again and Harvest for the World, as well as the Hillsborough charity single Ferry Cross the Mersey, The Christians enjoyed acclaim in the late 80s and early 90s. The group is headed by lead singer Garry Christian. They have toured with Go West, Hue & Cry, Roachford, Belinda Carlisle and Level 42, and released the album We.
Songs include What’s in a Word, Hooverville, Words, Father and The Bottle. They often confuse people with their band name; it is the brothers' surname, with no religious connotation.
Still headed by lead singer Garry Christian, the band are currently touring in the UK and Europe, playing their back catalogue and selections from newer albums.
