NYC beatmaker Blockhead teams up with French producer ProleteR and Berlin-based project Arms and Sleepers for a London date on 20 September 2026 at Hootananny Brixton. A meeting point for instrumental hip-hop, swing-tinged beats and atmospheric electronics, the night brings three distinct approaches to sample craft and groove under one roof.
A key voice in instrumental hip-hop for over 25 years, Blockhead lines up an eclectic live set with visuals, digging through a catalogue that stretches from early cuts to recent work. Mortality Is Lit!, his latest solo album released on Future Archive Recordings in November 2024, feeds into a show built on layered samples, head-nod drums and cinematic pacing.
ProleteR has, over the past decade, carved out a blend of electro, nu-jazz, swing-hop and instrumental hip-hop. Vintage jazz samples, boom-bap grooves and electro-soul textures shape a warm, recognisable sound that plays with nostalgia while staying firmly modern.
Arms and Sleepers, the long-running electronic and trip-hop project of producer Mirza Ramic, formed in Boston and now based in Berlin, explores glitched beats, leftfield hip-hop inflections and slow-burn ambience. On stage, enveloping textures and measured builds meet post-rock dynamics.
