Flamin' Groovies announce a handful of dates this autumn to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their power pop song (and album) 'Shake Some Action'.
Originally formed in San Francisco by Cyril Jordan and Roy Loney in 1965, Flamin' Groovies released their first three albums 'Supersnazz', 'Flamingo', and 'Teenage Head' before Roy Loney left the group in 1971. Chris Wilson replaced Loney and the band went on to release their albums between 1976 and 1979: 'Shake Some Action', 'Flamin' Groovies Now' and 'Jumpin' in the Night'.
In 1976, Flamin' Groovies headlined the Roundhouse in London with support from Ramones and the Stranglers. This concert has been cited as an influence on the punk rock scene.
The 'Teenage Head' album is listed in the 2006 book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
