Info
On Tuesday 9 June 2026, Katie Gregson-MacLeod brings her intimate folk-pop songwriting to Rough Trade Nottingham. Raised in the Scottish Highlands at her mother’s piano, she writes with a clear narrative streak, somewhere between indie pop and unadorned piano ballads. Since her self-produced debut EP in 2018, she has sharpened a voice that leans on detail and melody, drawing on touchstones like Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen and Elliott Smith. After Complex spread widely online in 2022, her songs found a broader audience, but the live approach stays stripped back: voice upfront, piano guiding the mood, lyrics at the centre. Themes of nostalgia, shifting power dynamics and self-examination thread through the set, carried by clean, understated arrangements. Onstage, small shifts in dynamics and phrasing bring the stories forward without heavy production.
Special guest Bonnie Kemplay joins the bill, opening the night and setting the tone for a show focused on songwriting and close listening.
