Billy Lockett

Billy Lockett brings his piano-led songwriting to Strange Brew in Bristol on 17 May 2026. Northampton-born, he has built a body of work at the crossroads of pop, folk and contemporary soul, with songs that put melody and direct, unvarnished writing first. After making his start on London’s open-mic circuit, he picked up airplay on BBC Radio 1 and spent time on the road opening for artists as varied as Birdy, Lana Del Rey, KT Tunstall, Lewis Capaldi and Electric Light Orchestra, experience that fed both his intimate solo format and a taste for wider stage dynamics.

Marked by a pause following his father’s death, Lockett’s return to recording set a more independent course between Northampton and London. Since then he has released a string of EPs and singles, along with a solo piano project that strips his music back to its core. On stage, he moves between piano-and-voice confessionals and finely drawn pop production, sometimes brushing against more electronic textures without losing the focus on songcraft.

At Strange Brew, expect a set that spans his catalogue, from bare piano pieces to fuller arrangements, with room for new material and reworked favorites. A night centred on the piano, close-up storytelling and the kind of detail that has shaped his writing over the years.
