Info
Dumbo Gets Mad, the psychedelic pop project of Italian producer and sound designer Luca Bergomi, arrives at Madrid’s Wurlitzer Ballroom on 4 November 2026. Born in 2011 and named as a nod to Dumbo’s Pink Elephants, the project moves freely between styles, languages and timbres, from lo-fi pop and ’70s grooves to a clearly contemporary production.
It began as a duo with Carlotta Menozzi and debuted in Los Angeles with Elephants at the Door, which attracted international attention: “Plumy Tale” made Pitchfork’s Top 50 Songs of 2011 and “Marmalade Kids” was singled out by NPR. With Quantum Leap (2013) they expanded their palette toward more open structures, and on Thank You Neil (2015) they explored a more soulful, cosmic side inspired by Neil deGrasse Tyson, with a sound recorded in near-live conditions.
After the single “Makes You Fly” (2019) and the album Things Are Random And Time Is Speeding Up (2021), which took the project on tour across North America and Mexico and led to a collaboration with Marracash, Dumbo Gets Mad signed with Carosello Records in 2025 to release Five Eggs. Conceived as an “egg-record,” the new material turns experiences and intuitions into a personal psychedelic journey. On stage, expect a set that blends pop melodies, processed vocals, warm synths and rhythms with a funk pulse, revisiting their catalogue and previewing the path of Five Eggs.
