Info
On 17 May 2026 at the Royal Albert Hall (Elgar Room) in London, Highways presents Country for Kids, a relaxed set where country musicians shape their songs for curious ears. The players swap big-stage volume for close-up acoustic textures—guitars, fiddle, mandolin, banjo and upright bass—so children can hear how each instrument sits in the mix. Expect steady two-steps, bluegrass runs and simple choruses made for joining in, plus story-songs that invite clapping, call-and-response and a bit of foot-tapping.
Between numbers, the artists explain what they do: how a fiddle carries a melody, how a rhythm guitar keeps time, how harmonies stack, and how a song holds together. They teach a refrain or two, pass around easy riffs and keep the pace friendly for first-time gig-goers. Designed with ages 4 to 11 in mind and open to budding musicians of any age, Country for Kids offers a clear, playful route into the roots of country music, in the room and up close.
