Grace Petrie

For a decade and a half, Grace Petrie has been a UK songwriter known for urgent, passionate writing. Coming of age amidst the coalition government, her politically charged folk music quickly gained national attention and led to main-stage appearances at folk festivals from Cambridge to Vancouver to the Blue Mountains of Australia. Characterised by incisive lyricism and a strong stage presence, her live shows are associated with an atmosphere of hope and solidarity. Her song Black Tie is known in LGBTQ communities. She has toured extensively in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, and has provided tour support for Billy Bragg, Frank Turner and Emmy-winner Hannah Gadsby. She has appeared on ITVX, Channel 4, Sky Arts and BBC radio. Her 2024 album Build Something Better, produced by Frank Turner, topped the UK Official Folk Album Chart.

On 24 October 2026 at 7:00 pm at Exeter Phoenix, she explores the stripped-back nature of folk songwriting with a show in two halves, encompassing an intimate solo set and a career retrospective full band performance featuring songs from across her sixteen-year catalogue.
