Royel Otis arrives at the O2 Academy Birmingham on 24 June 2026 with their dream-tinged indie pop and bright, chiming guitars that hook effortlessly. Formed in Sydney by Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic, the duo has honed their sound between indie rock, psychedelic touches and crisp melodies, born from DIY home sessions before gaining momentum on stage. Their songwriting favors textures and earworm choruses, supported by precise production in which every guitar line finds its place.

On stage they move through different moods: tight grooves, airy vocals and swelling layers that rise without affectation. Their debut album, Pratts & Pain (2024), forms the backbone of the set, with tracks like “Sofa King,” “Adored” and “Heading For The Door,” complemented by earlier material. You can hear echoes of MGMT, Phoenix and Tame Impala—not imitation, but assimilated references that position their world between lo-fi nostalgia and contemporary pop.
