Yard Act

Leeds outfit Yard Act bring their sharp post-punk storytelling to O2 Academy Brixton in London on 26 November 2026. Led by vocalist James Smith and bassist Ryan Needham, the quartet stitch dry wit and social observation into taut grooves, shifting between spoken-word bite and hook-laced choruses. Breaking through with early singles before their 2022 debut The Overload, they carved a space with songs that sketch everyday characters, small hustles and late-capitalist malaise, backed by drum-tight rhythms and spiky guitars.

On stage, the band push that mix of sardonic narration and restless rhythm into something danceable and direct, where basslines carry the weight and riffs jab at the edges. The set moves from lean, motorik pulse to elastic funk inflections, with lyrics that land like side-eye one-liners and refrains that stick without fuss.
