On 21 May 2026 at Foundry in Sheffield, Nubiyan Twist step out with a refreshed nine-piece line-up and a new live show. The Leeds-born collective splice jazz, afrobeat, soul, hip-hop and club culture into horn-driven arrangements, layered percussion and bass-heavy grooves. On stage, they shift between tight charts and open improvisation, with interlocking rhythms, call-and-response vocals and the UK jazz sensibility that runs through their sound.
Formed in Leeds and now a fixture of the UK live circuit, the band have collaborated with Nile Rodgers, Tony Allen, Seun Kuti and Fatoumata Diawara. From their self-titled debut through Jungle Run, Freedom Fables and Find Your Flame, they’ve honed a big-band approach that keeps melody and rhythm upfront. Their 2026 show brings fresh material, a retooled set and a focus on connection and groove, carried by brass firepower and a rhythm section built for movement.
