The Orb

The Orb arrive at The Georgian Theatre in Stockton-on-Tees on 29 May 2026, emblems of the ambient house wave that reshaped late-night listening. Born in London in the late 1980s around Alex Paterson, the project took the form of a loose collective, becoming masterful in the art of spatial washes, slow rhythms and vocal collages that glide from one motif to another without forcing the drop. Milestones such as The Orb’s Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld and U.F.Orb set the template: weightless dub, reggae in the margins, elastic loops and understated humour. What followed widened the spectrum, from excursions with David Gilmour on Metallic Spheres to encounters with Lee "Scratch" Perry on The Orbserver in the Star House.

On stage, The Orb translates this laboratory into live performance: live processing, measured improvisations and visuals that accompany a progression in light and shadow, conceived as much for the ends of the night as for attentive listening. Between revisited classics and more recent material, the set unfolds a patiently constructed map, where time stretches and textures breathe.
