On 19 November 2026, O2 Academy Leeds hosts The Orb and Ozric Tentacles, two long-running UK acts exploring expansive electronics and psychedelic rock.
The Orb, steered by Alex Paterson since the early 90s, helped shape ambient house with slow-motion grooves, dub-soaked echoes and collage-like samples. On stage the project works like a living studio, stretching themes, filtering voices and textures in real-time and letting long pieces drift between airy atmospheres and heavy low-end. Their live shows often draw on motifs from Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld and U.F.Orb, reframed alongside later colours gleaned from collaborations with Lee “Scratch” Perry or David Gilmour, then recombined for the room.
Ozric Tentacles bring an instrumental blend of psychedelic and space rock with progressive turns, anchored by guitarist-composer Ed Wynne. Sets thread twisting guitar lines, bright synth arpeggios and elastic rhythms, folding in dub pulses, ambient passages and electronics that nod to sister projects like Eat Static. Built as evolving suites rather than tidy songs, the music favours momentum and texture over vocals, letting the band open out grooves and push their cosmic palette in real time.
