Def Leppard heads to OVO Hydro in Glasgow on 28 June 2026, sharing the bill with Extreme. Formed in late-70s Sheffield, Def Leppard shifted from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal to a more melodic strain of hard rock, built on layered guitars and big vocal parts. Around singer Joe Elliott and bassist Rick Savage, the twin-guitar pairing of Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell shapes a catalogue that runs from On Through the Night and High ’n’ Dry to Pyromania and Hysteria, then Adrenalize, Slang and, more recently, Diamond Star Halos. Rick Allen’s drumming remains the heartbeat, while the band balances early cuts, well-known singles and newer tracks with a blend of hard rock, glam and pop rock.
Boston’s Extreme completes the lineup with Gary Cherone, Nuno Bettencourt, Pat Badger and Kevin Figueiredo. Rooted in hard rock and glam metal but wired with funk rhythm and occasional acoustic ballads, the quartet broke through with 1990’s Pornograffitti before the ambitious III Sides to Every Story and the rawer Waiting for the Punchline. After a long pause, the band returned to stages and studio with Saudades de Rock, then Six in 2023. Tight harmonies, elastic grooves and detailed guitar work set the tone.
