Turnstile

Turnstile plays The Piece Hall, Halifax, on 26 August 2026. Born in Baltimore’s hardcore scene in 2010, the band has pushed its sound from tight hardcore punk toward something more open, where sharp riffs meet melodic hooks and grooves that nod to funk and pop. Around Brendan Yates, Franz Lyons and Daniel Fang, Turnstile set the tone with the EPs Pressure to Succeed (2011) and Step 2 Rhythm (2013), then laid a first solid marker with Nonstop Feeling (2015). Time & Space (2018) broadened the palette without dropping the core intensity, a shift carried further on Glow On (2021), with airy melodies and a cameo from Blood Orange. Side projects like Share a View with Mall Grab (2020) and New Heart Designs with BadBadNotGood (2023) show their taste for crossings and collaborations. In 2025, the group returned with Never Enough, now joined by Meg Mills, folding new textures into a catalog that moves easily between pressure and release. On stage, Turnstile ties its hardcore roots to direct, melodic bursts, from early cuts to the latest tracks.
