Info
Hard-Fi bring their street-level indie rock to O2 Institute Birmingham in Birmingham on 4 December 2026. Formed in 2003 in Staines-upon-Thames, the quartet of Richard Archer, Ross Phillips, Kai Stephens and Steve Kemp shaped a sound that blends alternative rock with soul- and dance-influenced rhythms, and hooks fed by dub, ska and pop. Their writing sticks close to everyday Britain — suburbs, work, weekends, pressure — with a direct, no-frills approach. The band broke through in the mid-2000s with Stars of CCTV, recorded in part in a former minicab office, a detail that still colours their raw, hands-on aesthetic. They followed with the broader, darker Once Upon a Time in the West, then Killer Sounds, opening up to brighter textures and electronic pulses while staying anchored in rock.
After a best-of in 2014 and a long pause, Hard-Fi regrouped in 2022, returned to the road in 2023, then released the single Don’t Go Making Plans and an EP of the same name in 2024. On stage, expect a set that moves from those early breakthroughs to the new material, delivered with the driving sound of their live shows.
