Skunk Anansie & Garbage

Info

Garbage and Skunk Anansie share the stage at Scarborough Open Air Theatre in Scarborough on 20 June 2026. Two bands shaped in the 90s with their own take on heavy guitars and electronics, they bring deep catalogues and a live energy honed on big stages.

Built around Scottish singer Shirley Manson with producers-musicians Butch Vig, Duke Erikson and Steve Marker, Garbage blends alternative rock with studio-shaped electronics and pop hooks. From the 1995 debut and Version 2.0 to later outings like No Gods No Masters, their set moves between grainy guitars, programmed beats and melodies that stick.

Formed in London in 1994, Skunk Anansie lines up Skin, Ace, Cass and Mark Richardson. The band drives a sharp mix of alt rock, hard riffs and punk tension, coloured at times by funk or dub. Lyrics often cut into questions of power and identity. Reunited since 2009, they tour hard and keep the songs tight and direct.

Also on the bill, Du Blonde, the project of Beth Jeans Houghton, delivers lean, guitar-led songs that swing from psych and garage to punk and skewed pop. Albums like Welcome Back to Milk, Lung Bread for Daddy, Homecoming and Sniff More Gritty map a path where rough-edged guitars and catchy lines meet an often ironic tone.
