Nation of Language bring their kinetic blend of new wave and post-punk to Electric Bristol, Bristol, on 26 August 2026. From Introduction, Presence through A Way Forward to Strange Disciple, the Brooklyn trio have honed a sound of blinking synths, pulsing bass and Ian Devaney’s clear, rangy voice, built for movement and late-night city moods. Shaped by the push and pull of their audience, the newer material balances dance and catharsis: Sole Obsession, Too Much Enough or Weak In Your Light slide from romantic fixation to restless stride, while guitars step forward alongside the synths. On stage, Devaney, Aidan Noell and Alex MacKay lean into groove and analog textures, their set often tracing their triptych of motion — car, train, on foot — and folding road-tested arrangements into a show that welcomes both the front-row dance and the eyes-closed singalong.

Friko appear as special guests. The Chicago duo of Niko Kapetan and Bailey Minzenberger move between intimate piano-guitar melodies and sharper surges, threading indie rock, art rock and chamber pop. Their 2024 album Where We’ve Been, Where We Go From Here broadened the palette; live, quick-shifting dynamics and agile drums give their songs a raw, immediate edge.
