Editors

Editors bring their dark, melodic edge to O2 City Hall Newcastle on 4 March 2027. Formed in Birmingham in 2002, the band rose with the post‑punk revival, carried by Tom Smith’s baritone, Russell Leetch’s bass lines and Ed Lay’s driving drums. Early records like The Back Room and An End Has a Start nailed a taut, guitar-led sound, before In This Light and on This Evening opened the door to bolder synth work. After the 2012 lineup shift with Justin Lockey and Elliott Williams, Editors widened the frame toward atmospheric rock and shadowy pop on The Weight of Your Love, In Dream and Violence.

In 2022, the addition of electronic musician Benjamin John Power pushed the group further with EBM, folding industrial-leaning textures into their songwriting without losing their melodic instinct. On stage, Editors thread these eras into a fluid set, moving from serrated riffs to brooding keys and pulse-heavy electronics with a steady sense of tension. This Newcastle date lines up two decades of evolution in one show, from the early urgency to their latest electronic turn.
